My Profile

I retired as Managing Director & CEO in 2019 from a mid sized Urban Cooperative Bank in Mumbai. During my assignment, I helped the team with best practices and to take up ethical banking.

I created a succession plan for future leadership, divested operations from business to make both compliment each function. Made branches and every member a sales person by following RBIs regulatory and compliance norms in letter and spirit. I trained the entire bank team at all levels and also helped the Board with adhering to Corporate governance standards, having a hands off approach to the day to day operations of the bank and steadfastedly avoiding related party transactions.

Based on my experience at reputed Public Sector Banks such as State Bank group, United Bank of India, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Global Trust Bank, IDBI and Centurion Bank (HDFC Bank), I have assisted many Cooperative Banks in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nasik, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and have also offered training to large number of Cooperative Bankers in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana and Tamilnadu.

I am 65 years of age and before associating with Cooperative Banking sector, I have been a banker with top banks in India, Gulf Region and UK for 4 decades.

I have experience in Retail & NRI banking, SME, Wealth Management, Cross border remittances, Alliance development, Advisory services & Consultancy with leading banks.

I have been undertaking assignments from Banks on process, product and people improvements in line with the best in the industry. I offer training to bankers on customer service, product development, banking literacy, ethical banking, achieving financial discipline, raising debt funding for startup & MSMEs as well as ways to build a good credit score.

I headed NRI Banking and Alliances Development for ICICI, Global Trust Bank, IDBI Bank & erstwhile Centurion Bank (now HDFC Bank). I was in the UK under Highly Skilled Visa category. I assisted in setting up representative offices of banks and financial intermediaries in London, as per the regulations of the FSA.

I gained rich experience, by working with Public Sector Banks, MNC Banks, Private banks, Cooperative Banks, Fintechs, Investment Banking firms, Remittance Intermediaries & was also associated with Small Finance bank as Banking Business Correspondent to set up and manage their branches in Mumbai.

My vast experience includes cross functions such as Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Operational Excellence, MSME, Audit, Inspection, Product, Process & People Development, Digital Banking, Alliance Development, Training & Mentoring.

Based on my long tenure with banks, I also wrote a book on banking to be a guide and help customers. My book in English has been translated in other languages such as Hindi & Marathi and the books are available on Amazon, Kindle and Flipkart.

I am a graduate in Commerce from University of Mumbai & Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). I have been a domicile of Mumbai since my birth there in 1960. But I am now based at Bengaluru.

I have proficiency in English, Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarathi and working knowledge of Malayalam. I am learning Kannada and Telugu. I have traveled across the various parts of India and the globe and like motivating teams to achieve the objectives of their banks.

Current Focus

Post retirement, I have been offering consultancy to banks on product/process innovation and to train young professionals in banking practices and customer experience. I contribute to projects where my vast experience is optimally utilised.
